Yuba Raj Gautam
I started working at the University of Reading in Feb 2014, in Central Catering Unit. Following a successful job application, I started working as an Apprentice Workshop Technician in Operations Infrastructure from Feb 2017. Upon the completion of my Apprentice in Advanced Engineering I now work as a Technician in the same department.
I am a Registered Science Technician (RSci).
In my current role, I am responsible for maintenance of the workshop equipment and its safety, repair and service. I am also responsible for the design and manufacture of component parts as per the request from staff and students for the teaching and research. I use CAD/CAM software and various workshop machineries including Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine and Laser Cutter for high precision manufacturing. I also liaise with other University Technicians, external engineers/contractors and line manager for any jobs and projects that need a repair/service/maintenance or engineering input. All work orders are recorded in Shire System.
I am also a member of well-being (gardening) group.
Background: I was born and raised in Nepal. I finished my Higher Secondary Education in Kathmandu and moved to Copenhagen for Degree Education. I have been working and living in the UK since 2012.
Interests: I like hiking, travelling, swimming, playing table tennis and mostly outdoor activities. I really enjoy knowing people from all around the globe and know more about their culture and way of life.
