I provide technical support for undergraduate practical classes and in-direct research support in the School of Biological Sciences.
I primarily support classes in the AMS building, and this technical support involves the preparation of the laboratories, equipment and solutions that are required. I am a demonstrator in some laboratory practicals, such as Building Blocks of Life.
I also support the Cole Museum of Zoology – I work on the conservation of fluid-preserved specimens in the collections. I train these skills to museum volunteers.
I have previously worked as a school Science Technician and as a Maths & English Tutor. In December 2014 I started work at the University of Reading as a Trainee Technician in the School of Biological Sciences.
In August 2016 I progressed to my role as Teaching & Research Technician in the Biology team within Technical Services.
I am a Registered Science Technician (RSci) and a Member of the Royal Society of Biology.
I am a part of the Technical Services Wellbeing group, and I enjoy baking and running (I hope that they balance each other out!). I am also a board game enthusiast, and I believe this is a great way to connect with people.
