Strategic areas

As part of the new Directorate approach, four key strategic areas have been identified. 

  • Student community and belonging - create opportunities for engagement and community that foster an environment of belonging for all students, staff and the campus community.
  •  Advance operational excellence - initiatives to ensure we continue to leverage our structure to be a strong and successful directorate.
  • People and culture - embrace a culture in which we take responsibility for improving the holistic student experience and feel confident to try new things for its benefit.
  • Customer experience - work in partnership with our customers (schools and students) to co-create a great customer experience.

Projects and activities will be implemented throughout the planning period, with regular senior management reviews to maintain focus and maximise impact.

Key performance indicators (KPIs)

In support of the University Strategy, all the priorities and activities below will be measured by institution education goals/metrics. These are set out below are the institutional educational KPIs, the TEF/B3 metrics and the A&P metrics: 

  • University KPI3 NSS average of education specific questions (questions 1-24).
  • TEF Student Experience metrics (NSS Teaching on my course Q1-4, Learning opportunities Q5-9, Assessment & Feedback Q 10-14, Academic support Q 15-16, Organisation & Management Q15-16, Learning resources Q19-21, Student voice Q 22-24).
  • TEF and B3 Outcomes metrics Continuation, Completion, Progression.
  • Access and Participation attainment gaps (Age on entry, Deprivation IMD 2019, Disability, Ethnicity, Free school meals, TUNDRA).
