A work colleague recommended joining the SCR to me and ever since we've regularly enjoyed lunch in Park House. The facilities provide a relaxing place to unwind and meet others, whether it be during the day or after work. The wine shop offers an outstanding collection of red and white wines for every occasion - much nicer than the selection you'd find in your local supermarket. My personal favourites are the 1998 Vina Real and the 1994 Chateau Batailley.

'I really enjoy being a member of the SCR. Sometimes you just need somewhere quiet, comfortable and warm to sit for your lunch break and this is exactly what the SCR provides. I have attended some of the events and they are always good fun and everyone is very friendly and welcoming. And, of course, if you like wine then you are definitely in the right place!'

I use the Senior Common Room as a place to get away from my desk and I particularly value it as providing a quiet place to think, read and on occasion to do some marking in a peaceful environment. It's comfortable and the coffee is good. The bookable meeting room next door is an ideal venue for small meetings such as catch-up sessions with colleagues. The SCR is in fact one of my favourite places on campus

A great way to make new friends and to enjoy a wide range of social activities. My particular favourites are the excellent Burns Night and wine tasting events.
