Working with Industry

Researcher working in a labChemistry, Food and Nutritional Science, and Pharmacy are disciplines naturally inclined towards industry. Many of our graduates will be employed in Industry and the constituent sciences underlying Chemistry, Food and Nutritional Sciences and Pharmacy are strongly represented in Industry.

In consequence, the School of Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy has fostered links with Industry, from the big multinational companies to SME's, and is keen to increase these links. Our current links with Industry include contracts, grants and studentships. As a School, we attract research income in excess of £5 million per year, much of which comes from enterprise activities. We have studentships fully paid by industry and we have been very successful in attracting part sponsorship for studentships as well as those with BBSRC on the CASE scheme.

Our staff also provide expert advice as consultants to Industry.

Internally, staff have been successful in obtaining support from the Higher Education Innovation Fund for early stage ideas in developing technologies.

We are keen to expand links with Industry using the schemes outlined above. We are also keen to set up knowledge transfer partnerships (KTP). If you would like to work with us, please contact the Director of Enterprise.
