The School of Archaeology, Geography and Environmental Science (SAGES) - comprising the Departments of Archaeology, and Geography and Environmental Science - aims to create a supportive, fair and inclusive working environment for the benefit of all its staff and students.
We recognise that the School cannot achieve its vision without benefitting from the talents of all, and a core part of this ambition is to commit to equality and inclusivity. We realise that addressing unequal gender representation and real concerns over career development and progression in our academic disciplines (AHSSBL and STEMM) are priorities.
We also understand that with a diverse School it will be more creative and innovative, and hence more successful, and that to enable people to achieve their full potential we must also create a working environment that safeguards their physical and mental wellbeing.
The School has worked actively to improve wellbeing, equality and diversity. We promote flexible working and good working practices, mentoring and coaching, mandatory unconscious bias training for those involved in recruitment, extensive support for promotions, and professional behaviour.
