This lecture looks at modern finance in the Middle Ages, 1230 - 1340 and shows how a dynamic market economy existed. The lecturer discusses the importance of the wool market and forward contracts, contracts which involved paying ahead of time. He sets his lecture within the political, economic and religious context of the time, and discusses the trading undertaken by both religions orders and merchants.
