Open Day travel guide

How to find us

The easiest way to get to the University on Open Days is by public transport, and we provide a free bus service for all Open Day visitors between the University and Reading train station.

Both our Whiteknights and London Road campuses are open on the day. Most visitors should head for the Whiteknights campus which is the main hub for our Open Day activities but if you're interested in architecture, education or teaching then you may wish to start your day on the London Road campus.

Please check back closer to the event to view our Open Day Campus Map, which will include details of all buildings in use on the Open Day.

Travelling to Reading by train

Reading train station is a mainline train station and is easily accessible from most other places in the UK.

There are direct rail links from many major cities, including Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff, Bristol, and Exeter, as well as a number of routes through London.

If you are travelling from or via London, the quickest route to take is from London Paddington station. Trains from London Paddington to Reading run approximately every 15-20 minutes throughout the day and the average journey time is around 30 minutes.

Once you arrive at Reading station our team of Open Day Ambassadors will be ready to greet you, and assist you in catching the free bus to campus.

Find out more at the National Rail website.

Travelling from London?

Staff were super friendly, and always there to offer guidance and support. Made me really excited about studying my chosen subjects in 2022.
