MSc by Research Formulation Design and Analysis offers you fantastic research facilities, training in a wide range of experimental techniques and strong links with industry.

Study at a University with an established global reputation for research in drug delivery, nanoscience, polymers, materials science, and synthesis and analysis of organic molecules. 97% of our research is of international standing (Research Excellence Framework [REF] 2021, combining 4*, 3* and 2* submissions – Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy).

You will benefit from a collaborative working environment across the University. In particular, the School of Pharmacy has strong collaborative links with Departments of Chemistry, Food and Nutrition, School of Biological Sciences and Agriculture.

Training will be provided in a wide range of skills and experimental techniques, relevant to many industries (pharmaceutical, cosmetics, agrochemical, food, healthcare and medical devices, analytical instrumentation, specialty chemicals, etc).

Our research facilities include the £4 million Chemical Analysis Facility, which provides access to a wide range of modern spectroscopic equipment and expertise essential for modern chemical and pharmaceutical research. Other facilities available include small scale pharmaceutical manufacturing unit (tablets, granules, capsules, etc), instruments for particle size characterisation and facilities for conducting research with cell cultures and biological tissues.

Strong links with industry give you access to industrial laboratories and facilities to support your research. Many of our staff hold external appointments at various national and international research committees which will provide you with opportunities for participation in conferences and other networking events.

Our links with industry will also provide you with placement opportunities and study abroad visits to work in collaborator laboratories.
