Find out more about tuition fees and your financial obligations as a student by reading the University's Fees Policy.
At Reading, you will not have to pay your fees up front. This information outlines how much you will need to pay, based on your starting date at the University of Reading.
Tuition fees for undergraduates at University of Reading are:
*The University of Reading will keep this fee capped for the full duration of your course.
Your fees will be fully covered by a loan from the Student Loan Company, in line with its published repayment terms and conditions.
UK students joining the standalone International Foundation Programme (IFP) are not eligible for a loan.
Bursaries, scholarships and financial support programmes are also available for eligible students.
Any decision on raising the tuition fees cap for new UK students would require the formal approval of both Houses of Parliament before it becomes law. At this time, we do not expect an increase in fees to occur but please check here for updates.
With effect from 1 August 2021, new EU students will pay international tuition fees. For exceptions, please read the UK government's guidance for EU students.
EU students starting their studies on or before 31 July 2021 will pay the same fees and have the same eligibility for loans and grants as UK home students for the duration of their course.
This information was last updated: 9 December 2020.
UK students can get government loans to help towards their living costs, known as ‘maintenance loans’. If you choose to take out both a fees loan and a maintenance loan, these will be rolled together and repaid only after graduation through the tax system, as a proportion of your income over £25,000.
You may be eligible for other grants and bursaries, depending on your circumstances. For example, there is additional support for:
Our Access and Participation Plan (APP) sets out how we’re improving equality of opportunity in higher education, and is approved by the Office for Students (OfS).

If you would like to see our past plans, please visit our Access and Participation Plans page.
