The purpose of programme specifications
Programme Specifications are intended to provide a standard format
for describing the University's taught degree programmes, in line with
Quality Assurance Agency and
University Guidelines (Sections 5d and 5e).
They are produced mainly for internal use, although they contain
information useful to current and prospective students and other
stakeholders. As the content of the University s degree programmes is
constantly being developed, the information contained within the
specifications is liable to change.
Programme documentation pre-October 2002
Before October 2002, the formal details of the University's taught
degree programmes were set out in a Syllabus document for each
programme. Since the University moved to a modular degree structure in
October 2002 (for Undergraduate and Integrated Masters programmes) and
in October 2003 (for taught Postgraduate programmes), all taught
programmes are required to have an associated Programme Specification,
which replaced syllabuses as the formal documentation.
Syllabuses for all Undergraduate and Integrated Masters degree
programmes which started before October 2002 and for the remainder of
the taught Postgraduate programmes commencing in October 2002 can be
found in the edition of the University Calendar appropriate to the year
in which the programme commenced. Paper copies of the Calendar are
available to view from the University's Graduation Office (contact Rachel HillKelly, x8117)
