Background
I received my PhD in Political Science from the Department of Political Science, Aarhus University in 2011, following a master's degree in sociology.
Prior to arriving at the University of Reading I was a postdoc and assistant professor at Aarhus University. During this time, I worked on a project on how new cultural issues such as immigration, law and order and national identify have reshaped electoral alignments and party politics in Denmark since 1968.
Another now finished comparative project with myself as Co-investigator further examined how welfare state reforms affect support for the incumbent government and how policymakers strategically act to hide the consequences of unpopular decisions and policies.
I am currently working on a comparative project that investigates popular support for climate change policies and energy policy. Another current area of interest is how populist parties can break the cordon sanitaire that is put around them.
