The University of Reading has been working with the Moscow State University for International Relations (MGIMO) since 2013, and we have developed a one-of-a-kind strategic partnership between Russia and the UK.

We believe that this collaboration provides exciting and unique opportunities for students and staff, and enables us to bring together a wide variety of expertise to improve and push the boundaries of our teaching and research across our institutions.

Double Degree in Politics and International Relations

Strengthening the relationship between the two universities, the University of Reading and MGIMO have launched a double degree bachelor programme in Politics and International Relations that will span four years, with students spending the first two years at MGIMO and the final two years at Reading.

Upon completion, students will be awarded two bachelor's degrees. The inaugural cohort of students started in September 2018 at MGIMO, and as of 2020, we will welcome students from MGIMO to our Department.

This Double Degree programme is unique for combining UK and Russian teaching and research perspectives, as well as providing students with the opportunity to access both the UK and Russian job markets at the completion of the programme.

The MGIMO part of the curriculum includes lectures and seminars in social sciences and humanities – history and philosophy, sociology and economics, political science and international relations.

Students are also trained in academic skills and creative writing. The core parts of the Moscow curriculum are delivered by native English speakers with advanced degrees in politics and linguistics from leading universities across the globe.

Over their two years at University of Reading, Double Degree students learn through advanced courses in comparative politics, foreign policy analysis, and contemporary global issues.

Throughout their degree, students will be able to study a foreign language.
