Tanya Ali

Like all our Physician Associate students, Tanya Ali had secured a job by the time she'd graduated. This was helped by the connections made during her studies, where she carried out various placements and made a great impression on her colleagues.

Samantha Bautista

Samantha was in the very first cohort of Physician Associates at Reading, graduating from our PGDip programme in 2017. She is now thriving in two roles for the NHS, splitting her time between jobs at the Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) and a local GP surgery.

Emily Jackson

Emily Jackson went to prison for the sake of her education. She spent two days working in HM Prison Swansea's Pharmacy Department - one of eight placements that Emily undertook during her MPharm degree.

Eunyoung Lee

Eunyoung Lee graduated from the Reading School of Pharmacy after studying for the MPharm in 2015. Since leaving, her career in pharmaceutical industry has gone from strength to strength, and she is a positive example of what can be achieved after receiving a degree from the University of Reading.

Bilal Mohammed

Our Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) allows undergraduate students to work on real research projects alongside academic researchers at the University. For MPharm student Bilal Mohammed, the scheme also provided the opportunity to present his research in Parliament.

Kalid Odweyne

Kalid Odweyne studied the MPharm at the Reading School of Pharmacy from 2013 to 2017, and added the Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration to his qualification during summer study. He is currently a pre-registration pharmacist in the NHS.

Francine Olivero

While working towards her Biomedical Science degree at the University of Reading, Francine Olivero’s academic tutor encouraged her to apply for the then freshly launched Physician Associate studies programme.

Gurinder Singh

Gurinder Singh is a lecturer in Pharmacy Practice at the University. He is proud to be teaching the next generation of pharmacists - it's a position he is all too familiar with as Gurinder used to be a student here, at Reading.

Sam Warrior

Sam Warrior is a busy Physician Associate working in the surgical liaison team within the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. You can also find him at the University of Reading once a week, where he teaches our Physician Associate students.

Marie-Theres Zeuner

When Marie-Theres Zeuner moved from Germany to continue her PhD in Pharmacy at the University of Reading, she found the close-working relationships between the doctoral researchers and the staff created an open-minded environment.

Aaliyah Parkar

Aaliyah is currently studying BSc Pharmacology with a year in industry at Reading, she has taken her placement with Reckitt, a large Pharmaceutical and consumer goods company with a portfolio of brands like Clearasil, Nurofen and Strepsils.

Impactful teaching and research

Learn about the groundbreaking research our staff have been involved in, and how it is impacting the healthcare sector. Their research feeds into their teaching, and is part of many of the modules you will study.

Dr Angela Bithell

Try to imagine a dish that thinks it's a brain. If you can, you can seriously start thinking about working alongside Dr Angela Bithell.

As a lecturer in Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, her research has led to the development of 3D 'brain network' models in vitro.

Dr Amit Sharma

Dr Amit Sharma is part of an innovative, progressive GP practice that offers placements to Physician Associate students and has gone on to employ four graduate PAs.

Dr Sharma outlines the benefits Physician Associates bring to his Practice and his advice for other GPs considering working with Physician Associates.

Professor Sakthivel Vaiyapuri

Professor Sakthivel Vaiyapuri’s research focuses on cardiovascular and venom pharmacology. All his research deals with platelets, the part of our blood responsible for clotting and the subsequent wound healing processes and managing immune cells.

Professor Vitaliy Khutoryanskiy

For Professor Vitaliy Khutoryanskiy, the joy of being named PhD Supervisor of the Year by the Postgrad Awards 2020 was poignant amidst the global catastrophe of Covid. Vitaliy discusses pharmaceutics and teaching, as well as his experiences growing up in the ruins of the collapsing Soviet Union.
