Sue Slade
  • Module convenor and Lead Pharmacist for Independent Prescribing Programme for nurses and pharmacists.

Background

Sue graduated from the University of Bath with a BPharm degree and undertook her pre-registration year at Southampton General Hospital before moving to Oxford Hospitals for a basic grade pharmacist rotational post. On completion of her diploma in clinical pharmacy she moved up to Cumberland Royal Infirmary as Clinical Services Pharmacist. Following a career break Sue undertook various roles in community pharmacy, private hospitals and electronic prescribing before finally settling down in cardiology and education and training at the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RBH).

Sue made her first steps towards academia when she undertook various temporary teacher practitioner roles at the University of Reading from 2010. This then became permanent in 2015 when she took on designing and implementing the hospital placements at the RBH as part of the new MPharm. She then moved to postgraduate education in the Centre for Inter-Professional PG Education & Training (CIPPET) to take on teaching on the prescribing course, as well as supporting the JPB diploma.

Sue also works in a GP surgery two days a week where she runs her own asthma clinics as well as supporting the practice in medicines management.

Sue has completed her postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy and is an independent prescriber. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and was awarded Advanced Stage II membership of the Faculty of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in 2018.
