Miss Flavia Ghouri
Job Title:
Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching support on the MPharm programme (Pharmacy practice)

Part-time PhD research (Pharmacy practice)

Pharmacy Graduate Teaching Assistant Athena Swan representative

Areas of Interest:

Flavia is a registered pharmacist and currently a part-time PhD candidate within pharmacy practice. Her research focuses on use of antibiotics to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs) in pregnancy. UTIs are the most common type of infection experienced during pregnancy and account for the majority of primary care prescriptions issued to women. However, antibiotic use is strongly associated with a rise in antimicrobial resistance, a major health threat, and therefore it is important that they are used appropriately. The PhD project aims to explore the prescribing and use of antibiotics for UTIs in pregnancy. The research outcomes are to develop an in-depth understanding of issues and concerns that can arise in practice to identify and optimise behaviours which can facilitate appropriate antibiotic use.
