Welcome to the Reading School of Pharmacy
Whether you are interested in our newly accredited MPharm programme, a PhD or MSc in Pharmacy, or one of the many courses offered by our Centre for Inter-Professional Postgraduate Education and Training (CIPPET), we hope you find the opportunities available at our School to be of interest. Our School was established in 2004 with a £7 million investment from the University. Our first cohort of undergraduates graduated with accredited MPharm degrees in 2009, and are now contributing to the Pharmacy profession, particularly within Hospital and Community Pharmacies. Investment in our School and facilities has continued in recent years, and this has provided a new building for the teaching of Pharmacology and Therapeutics (the Hopkins Building), and the Chemical Analysis Facility (the CAF), that provides technologies that underpin many aspects of teaching and research within the School.
The School currently has an undergraduate intake of around 130 students per year on the 4-year MPharm degree programme and around 41 postgraduate students are registered for PhD degrees. The Reading School of Pharmacy also serves as a major provider of postgraduate professional training for registered Pharmacists and other healthcare workers. Teaching and research at Reading is delivered by a team of more than 30 dynamic and enterprising academic staff (a large proportion of whom are registered Pharmacists), professional pharmacists and support staff. We use a range of teaching methods that include lectures, tutorials/seminars, practical sessions, clinical workshops and problem based learning sessions to ensure that you are taught in dynamic and interactive sessions, and are fully equipped to develop into independent learners.
Within our website you will find a wide range of information on our School, our activities, and the Pharmacy profession. We are committed to provide the very best in Pharmacy education and we very much hope you will visit our School at one of our Open Days where you can meet our staff so that we can share our enthusiasm for Pharmacy teaching and research with you.
