University of Reading Business School to host international conference – University of Reading

More than 100 leading academics will attend a two-day conference on international business at the University of Reading next month.

The two-day event has been organised by the Centre for International Business and Strategy (CIBS) and will take place on 16 and 17 April.

Part of the University of Reading Business School, and led by Professor Rajneesh Narula, CIBS has established itself as a hub for research in international business, bringing together individuals from a wide range of disciplines.

Professor Narula said: "The conference aims to mark the revival of Reading as the intellectual home and driving force behind cutting-edge research in international business. In addition to welcoming leading colleagues from across Europe, Asia, the US, Canada Australia and South America we have attracted some of the best upcoming academics from around the world."

Papers have been submitted by over 80 of the invited academics, and will present points for discussion and debate at the conference.

A specially arranged conference dinner on the 16 April will pay tribute to The Business School's Emeritus Professor, John Dunning, coinciding with his 80th birthday. It also marks almost 40 years since he founded Reading's Department of Economics.

A VIP guest at the conference, Professor Dunning has enjoyed a highly distinguished career and remained at the forefront of international business research for 50 years. He has authored or edited 42 books and holds honorary doctorates and several notable positions at a number of leading universities worldwide. In December 2004 he was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual meeting of the European Academy of International Business. Professor Dunning is still actively lecturing, and acts in an advisory role to numerous governments and international organisations.
