Release Date 10 September 2020
The University of Reading has improved its position in the Guardian University Guide 2021, moving to 62 place in the latest league table.
The improved position in the Guardian University Guide 2021 takes into account scores from the latest National Student Survey which saw improvements in key metrics such as course satisfaction and based on new graduate outcomes data which saw Reading place in the top 40 ranked institutions (2021: 39) in that category.
Continuation rates also helped the University of Reading to gain places in the Guardian University Guide 2021. The score of 95% continuation saw Reading place 22 in that category, and is one of two categories that the University placed in the top 30 ranked institutions in. With a score of 95% for continuation rate, the University of Reading was ahead of both the average for the top 50 (94.2) and the full sector (91.8).
Another category that the Guardian University Guide 2021 ranked Reading strongly in is a value added score which compares the proportion of students achieving a first or 2:1 with the likelihood based on their entry qualifications. The University of Reading placed 27 in the 2021 league table and improved its position from the previous year where it was ranked 41.
While the sector as a whole saw drops in Student Satisfaction, as recorded through the 2020 National Student Survey, the University consolidated its position and absolute score for student satisfaction, and saw gains both the ‘Satisfied with course’, rising 15 places to 50, and ‘Satisfied with feedback’, rising eight places to 94.
