Store collections

The Library's Off-site Store houses lesser-used research material and low-use collections.

For operational and safety reasons, it is not possible for users to browse the collections held in the Store.

Finding and requesting Store items

All Store books and periodicals are fully catalogued on the Enterprise catalogue. You’ll recognise Store items by the location ‘Off-site Store – available on request’. To use them, just click on the "Request Closed Access or Store items" link on the right-hand side of the screen and fill in the details - see Requesting items from the off-site Store using Enterprise for detailed help.

Requests should be made in advance of a visit, just specify the dates you want the item when you fill in the Request form on Enterprise. We can collect a maximum of five items for you. See Requesting items from Store and Closed Access collections for full details of collection times.

We regret that items can only be requested by Library members at this time.

Collecting your Store item

You will receive notification when your item is available. This email will tell you where to collect it from on the Ground Floor:

  • the Ground Floor Quiet Study area;
  • or the Welcome Desk.

Many items from the Store collections can be borrowed - if the item you request is a non-loan item this will be stated on the catalogue. You can read these items in the Library.
