Requesting items from Store & Closed Access

Some items are kept in areas not accessible to Library users or members of the public. Such material will have the location on the Enterprise catalogue "Off-site Store - available on request" or "In Closed Access - available on request". Requests should be made in advance of a visit, just specify the dates you want the item when you fill in the Request form.

Anyone can request items from these locations, including non-members. Please note that during the University examinations period (April until mid-June) non-members will only be able to consult items at the weekend, access is not possible Monday to Friday. Your visit will need to be arranged in advance. See information for embers of the public for details of visiting restrictions and how to request access.

Off-site Store items

Making requests

Collection times and availability

  • Requests are collected from the Off-site Store on Monday and Thursday each week. (The cut-off time for requests on collection days is 08:30). Please note that collections will not take place on Bank Holidays and University closed days - notice of these will be posted on our Library news blog and our social media channels.
  • Email notification will be sent when your item is available; this will tell you where to collect it from.
  • Items which can be borrowed will be available from the Store & Closed Access Requests shelves in the Short Loan area located on the Ground Floor of the Library.  These items can be collected throughout Library opening hours.
  • Non-loan items can be collected from the Welcome Desk on the Ground Floor of the Library. These items are available for consultation during staffed hours only.
