Responsibilities
- One-to-one advice sessions with individual students on developing more effective study practices
- General study-skills teaching
- Develops resources to support student academic practices
Laura is a Certified Practitioner with the Association of Learning Development in Higher Education.
Areas of interest
After gaining her BSc (Hons) in 2007 and PGCE in 2008, Laura began teaching in the field of equine science and was responsible for the delivery of research methods, equine behaviour and academic skills modules. After several years of lecturing and course managing in this area and completing her MSc in Equine Science, Laura spent some time living in Italy where she taught English as a foreign language.
Upon returning to the UK she established an interest in learning development and worked as a Study Adviser in a variety of UK universities. She achieved Certified Practitioner status with ALDinHE in 2018 and joined the University of Reading in 2020.
Laura enjoys working with students from varied backgrounds and supporting them to develop their skills and confidence at university.
