Library Building Term-time service levels

Full service

The Library offers its full range of services and support between 09:00 - 17:00, Monday to Thursday, and 10:00 - 17:00 on Fridays e.g. membership and registration, our 'core hours'.

Other service levels

During term-time, out of 'core hours' we normally  offer the following levels of service, subject to staff availability. However, if (due to illness etc) staff numbers fall below the minimum level advised to ensure your health and safety, the Library may be subject to closure at short notice.

Mornings: Monday to Thursday 08:30 - 09:00, Friday 08:30 - 10:00, Saturday and Sunday 08:30 - 09:00

  • Self-service issue, return and renewal of Library materials (including Short Loan items)
  • Collection of available holds
  • Photocopying
  • Use of networked PCs
  • Access to individual study spaces and Group Study Rooms
  • Staffed Welcome Desk service for help with directional and general enquiries

Early evenings: Monday to Friday 17:00 - 19:00

  • Staffed service from the Welcome Desk for help with:
    - Payment of fines (credit/debit/Campus cards only)
    - Directional enquiries
    - Referral of subject enquiries
    - Collection of items requested from 'Closed Access' and 'Off-Site Store'
    - Collection of Inter-Library Loan items
  • Self-service issue, return and renewal of Library materials (including Short Loan items)
  • Collection of available holds
  • Photocopying
  • Microfilm and microfiche reading and copying facilities
  • Use of networked PCs
  • Access to individual study spaces and Group Study Rooms

Late evenings/overnight: Monday to Friday 19:00 - 08:30, Saturday 17:00 - 21:00, Sunday 17:00 - Monday 08:30.
This level of service will also operate on Bank Holiday Mondays.

Weekend daytime: Saturday and Sunday 09:00 - 17:00

  • Staffed service from the Welcome Desk for help with:
    - Loans, renewals and returns
    - Payment of fines (credit/debit/Campus cards only)
    - Directional enquiries
    - Referral of subject enquiries
    - Collection of items requested from 'Closed Access' and 'Off-Site Store'
    - Collection of Inter-Library Loan items
  • Self-service issue, return and renewal of Library materials (including Short Loan items)
  • Collection of available holds
  • Photocopying

IT Service Desk opening times

The IT Service Desk is located on the 1st Floor of the Library. This service is provided by Information Technology and is subject to availability. 

Term-time

Mon - Fri 08:00 - 18:00
Sat & Sun 11:00 - 17:00

Vacation

Mon - Fri 09:00 - 17:00
