Ali Nicholson

IWLP Teaching & Learning Coordinator (French, Student Recruitment and Engagement).
Modules taught: Module convenor for all IWLP French modules, also teach on IWLP French Stage 3.

Institution Wide Language Programme.

Active projects:
I am currently leading a Tandem Language Learning scheme, pairing up IWLP students with native speakers, as part of a successful bid through the University's Teaching and Learning Development Fund. I am running an innovative project of outward mobility, where IWLP students spend a 2- week period in a French University, which is also linked to a credit-bearing module. I coordinate all activity relating to IWLP student engagement and recruitment.

Following a first career in marketing, I have been a language teacher for over 20 years, joining the University of Reading in 2006 where I taught on both IWLP and the Department of Modern Languages and European Studies programmes. My main interests lie in student engagement and motivation, and I have twice been nominated for teaching excellence by students. I am currently External Examiner for the University of Nottingham.
