Responsibilities

I primarily support student practical classes and research done in the Russell building as part of the School of Archaeology, Geography and Environmental Sciences, but also works in the School of Agriculture, Policy and Development. While in SAPD I help out with basic lab maintenance and supervise people on the SpectraMax plate reader. I am also involved in research projects.

I am a certified first aider and have completed the Professional Registration process and am now a Registered Science Technician and Associate Member of the Royal Society of Biology. I was nominated for the Support Staff Excellence Award in the RUSU Excellence Awards 2017.

Qualifications

I graduated in June 2015 with a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from Oxford Brookes University. I started working for the University of Reading in August 2015 as a technician in the School of Biological Sciences. I worked in SBS for a year then started my current role as a Technical Services Cluster 2 Trainee Technician in August 2016.

Further information

I am part of the Technical Services Wellbeing group and have organised a few technicians' coffee mornings. I am involved in the yoga and running clubs, and outside of work I am teaching myself to play the ukulele.
