Another win for Reading on University Challenge

University Challenge

The University of Reading gained another win in the second round, defeating Dundee University with an impressive 245 to 50.

Team Captain Michael Hutchinson said:
“We are very proud of being the first Reading University team to make it through to the quarter-finals of University Challenge. In the year that Reading University receives a Queens Anniversary Prize for its work on climate change, the action in the studio will certainly be heating up with at least two quarter-finals to enjoy. Come on Reading!”

A big congratulations to the team!

The University of Reading will be appearing in tonight’s episode of University Challenge on BBC Two, going up against Dundee University in the second round.

In the first round the team comfortably defeated the University of Strathclyde by 175 to 110, thanks to their knowledge of subjects as diverse as Hayao Miyazaki films, Belgian cathedrals and Scottish islands.

  • Alex Skopic – studying for a Master’s in English Literature

  • Margaret Ounsley – studying for a PhD in Poor Law History

  • Sylvian Patrick Jesudoss – studying for a PhD in Marketing at Henley Business School

The two reserve team members are: Kira Bishop (second year Maths and Psychology) and Sarah Turvey (studying for a Master’s in Education).

We wish them the best of luck!
