Solar panel installation work on Whiteknights campus

Green News

Work has already started on installing new solar panels on the following buildings:

  • Sports Park
  • Harry Pitt
  • Psychology
  • Meteorology
  • Archaeology
  • Energy Centre
  • Agriculture

Works are due to be completed in October, and completion dates will vary by building. During the works colleagues should keep well clear of any scaffolding or lifting and follow any directional signage.

Green University

This work is being funded by the £3.4 million grant the University was awarded by the Salix Finance Decarbonisation Fund, in recognition of our innovative initiatives for a sustainable campus.

Once complete, the University will have almost 1 MW of solar panels on its Whiteknights campus – almost 4 times as much as 12 months ago – generating 886,000 kWh of electricity each year from 1216 solar panels. This will be enough to power Whiteknights House for over 4 years, thus completing another step towards achieving our long-term goal of being the greenest university in the UK.

Should you have any questions about the works please contact the Senior Project Lead: Rachel Odame.
