The Race Equality Action Team (RE-ACT) is looking for two academic colleagues to join the team. If you would like to contribute to the race equity work at Reading, and have specific interests in decolonising the curriculum and how to offer an inclusive curricula and classrooms, the RE-ACT team would like to hear from you.

What you get in return is an opportunity to work with colleagues from several Schools and Functions – working in academic and professional services roles – who are leading the work to secure a Race Equality Charter Mark for our University.

The work of RE-ACT is geared towards underpinning the charter mark goals of improving the representation, progression and success of ethnic minority staff and students across our institution.

Over the next nine months, RE-ACT will be focusing on:

  • developing concrete proposals for actions which address institutional and structural issues affecting BAME staff and students
  • compiling, interrogating and analysing supporting data on race equity at Reading
  • fostering a willingness to self-examine as a community and broach difficult issues constructively, including those which are complex to unravel and not easy to resolve

If you are interested, please drop a line to Allán Laville & Joanna John – Co-Chairs of RE-ACT – at diversity@reading.ac.uk.

The deadline for responses is Friday 11 June.
