Learning from...Joanna Abeyie MBE: a BAME Network and Women@Reading virtual event

Thursday 29 October, 18:00-19:00

As part of the exciting programme of events that the University has organised for Black History Month, students, staff and alumni are invited to join us in a virtual conversation with Joanna Abeyie MBE as she shares her experience as a leader and champion of diversity, inclusion and equality.

Joanna is a multi-award-winning entrepreneur, diversity and inclusion consultant, social campaigner, journalist, broadcaster, and renowned public speaker. A University of Reading alumni, she was awarded Distinguished Graduate of the Year in 2019 in recognition of her work helping organisations diversify their workforce and leadership to better represent society.

Joanna has founded a series of recruitment and consultancy enterprises, the latest of which, Blue Moon, generates success for companies by helping them create more inclusive business communities. To date, Joanna has placed more than 3,000 people from diverse backgrounds into work, significantly improving representation of BAME and working-class talent in the sector.

Joanna's achievements as a businesswoman have been recognised across numerous awards and she is hugely respected in political circles. Her work has included advising the likes of BBC, ITV, Sky, Facebook and Barclays, and has seen her recognised by the Prime Minister and the Mayor of London.

This is a joint online event from the University's BAME Network and Women@Reading. The event will be held on Microsoft Teams and all staff, students and alumni are welcome.
