Health and Life Sciences building update
Thursday, 19 March 2020
Colleagues who have passed by the site will have noticed changes to the landscape around the building with the completion of the cycle shelter and planting. Progress is being made on the inside too with many corridors and rooms, for example, the offices having been decorated.
Colleagues from the Student Timetabling and Room Booking Operations team were given a guided tour of the Health and Life Sciences building as part of their planning and preparation to understand the teaching space in the new building. The tour covered the new teaching laboratory spaces as well as a general tour and the new facilities available for research. Senior Timetabling Officer, Julie Kelly said:
"The new Health and Life Sciences building is very inspiring and would rival the science facility at any university. The ability to configure the teaching labs into different sizes is very impressive, as are the technological amenities. This building is a marked improvement on the existing facilities, for both students and colleagues.”
With the interior fit out of the building proceeding with the project should finish as scheduled in mid-2020. The project demonstrates the University commitment with £60m being invested to bring about closer integration of the School of Biological Sciences.
