The water supply to the Whiteknights campus has returned to normal over the weekend, and the campus is open.
Updated at 18:30 (7 December 2018)
Thames Water have advised that the broken water main that caused the closure of our Whiteknights campus (including Earley Gate) has been resolved and water supply has been restored.
Water pressures may fluctuate for a few hours as the supply returns to normal. However, Thames Water have confirmed that all water is safe to drink.
To allow time to ensure that the water supply is secure and there are no further problems, the Library and Library@URS will reopen at 9am on Saturday morning.
Services that would usually be closed at the weekend, including Support Centres, will reopen on Monday as usual. All teaching and other activities will go ahead as normal on Monday.
Updated Frequently Asked Questions are available on the Essentials web pages.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
The Whiteknights campus (including Earley Gate) is being closed for the rest of the day today, Friday 7 December. A burst water main on Whiteknights Road is affecting water supply across the Whiteknights campus, which means we can no longer operate safely.
Colleagues are asked to return home. Once buildings have been vacated, they will be closed. If you have work that can be delivered from home, please discuss this with your manager. Please note that Whiteknights Road is closed for repairs and traffic is being diverted.
Do not use water or toilets in order to conserve our limited supply for critical purposes. The London Road campus is operating as usual but it is not feasible to relocate all activities to this area. If you have serious issues, please contact your Head of Function or School.
Halls of Residence are not closing. Where Halls are affected, UPP is working with Thames Water to make suitable arrangements for water supply, including drinking water, toilets and essential catering. We will keep Halls residents updated directly.
A small team from Student Services will remain at the Carrington Reception until 2 pm today to support students with any urgent issues. The London Road Support Centre will remain open until 5 pm as usual and students can contact them on 0118 378 2608 or 0118 378 2611.
Thames Water are working to resolve the issue urgently and currently estimate repairs will take up to 24 hours but please monitor email or the Staff Portal for the latest information, as this may change.
