University considering updated advice on international travel
Friday, 23 November 2018
The University is currently considering updating its advice on international travel following recent news events and is consulting with Universities UK International and the UK Government over any updated guidance required.
Vincenzo Raimo, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), says: "While we don’t require anyone to have to travel in the course of their work, if you do wish to travel, we will be continuing to follow our existing risk assessment process noting that there could be different outcomes for different projects in the same country.
“The freedom of academics to pursue legitimate research is fundamental to the University of Reading, and we pride ourselves on being a truly international University in both research and teaching. However, UK academics work in many countries around the world in which academic freedom may not always be respected and we will continue to look to provide up to date and appropriate support and guidance for our staff and students looking to study and work abroad.”
