Information sessions on NUIST and UoRM
Friday, 16 November 2018
The University is hosting information sessions on NUIST-University of Reading Academy and University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM) this month.
The NUIST-Reading Academy session will take place on this Friday, 16 November (13:00-14:00) at Lecture Theatre-1, Chemistry building. Dominik Zaum, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), will lead the session, with support from Roger Gibbard (Teaching & Learning Dean), Daguo Li (Deputy Dean, NUIST-Reading Academy), Martin McCarthy (International Partnerships Manager, China & East Asia) and Doug Saddy.
They will update colleagues on the Academy’s development to date and will talk about the growth opportunities for Schools already involved in the Academy, or interested in developing links in China – for both teaching and research.
Opportunities for PhD students and others to work at the Academy on short and long-term placements are also on the agenda. The Academy is looking for subject teachers in all of its current areas: English language, Chemistry, Economics, Environmental Sciences, Law, Mathematics and Meteorology. If you know of PhD students or retired/about to retire colleagues, who might be interested in spending a few months or a year in China, please let them know about this session.
The University of Reading Malaysia session will take place on Monday 26 November (12:30-13:30) at Meadow Suite, Park House. Vincenzo Raimo, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), will lead the session, with support from UoRM Provost, Professor Wing Lam.
Professor Wing Lam took over the responsibility for our Malaysia campus earlier this year, and this will be his first interaction with the wider staff community at Reading. He will update colleagues on the development on the campus since he joined.
Both sessions are open to all colleagues, but places will be allocated on first come first served basis.
