Over 120 employers ready to meet students this October
Wednesday, 17 October 2018
The Careers and Placements Fair and the Law Careers Fair, the two most important employability events organised by Careers at the University of Reading, are taking place in October. On Wednesday 24 October, between 11:00 and 15:00, over 90 employers are coming to the Careers and Placements Fair in the Palmer Building on the Whiteknights campus. A week later, on Wednesday 31 October, the Law Careers Fair will be taking place from 13:00 to 15:00 in the newly refurbished 3Sixty in RUSU.
The Careers and Placements Fair is the University’s biggest employability event of the year, welcoming over 90 employers to campus. Sanofi, the fifth largest pharmaceuticals company in the world, is the main sponsor of the Careers and Placements Fair 2018. The Fair is a great occasion for students of all years and specialisms to start looking at work experience opportunities such as Professional Placement Years and graduate schemes, and to network with employers.
The employers attending this year’s event generally offer roles that are open to any discipline. Attending organisations include Sanofi, Teach First, Thames Water, EY, Civil Service, Pepsi Co, Lidl UK, Vodafone, British Airways, NHS Leadership Academy, Oxfam.
The Law Careers Fair is open to students of all disciplines and welcomes over 30 organisations to campus. It is a great place for our students to start looking at opportunities in the legal sector including placements, graduate opportunities and postgraduate study.
With application deadlines for full-time graduate schemes and Placement Year opportunities closing in October/November and those for summer internships due in December and January, it is important that students attend the fairs to gain an insight into the recruitment process and to discover available opportunities.
Careers will also introduce Career Fair +, an app designed to help students make the most of the fairs. The app gives them access to the complete list of employers attending, the fairs maps and career advice articles. The app is available for download in the App Store and on Google Play and has a desktop version as well. There is also a Fair video, specifically created to help students prepare for the event and make the most of this experience.
