IMAGINE Senior Ambassadors Launch

IMAGINE anniversary

This week, we have been celebrating the second anniversary of IMAGINE, the University’s fundraising and volunteering campaign.

The campaign launched on 7 June 2016, and to mark its second anniversary, we launched a dedicated Ambassador group at a special event at our London Road campus yesterday.

The IMAGINE Senior Ambassadors Group features a number of significant donors and volunteers who support the campaign. As Ambassadors they will also act as public advocates for IMAGINE, inspiring others to show their support and widen the reach of the campaign both within and beyond the University.

University of Reading Vice-Chancellor, Sir David Bell said:

“Over the past two years, the support of donors and volunteers has helped the IMAGINE campaign achieve some outstanding impact. The personal support of our IMAGINE Senior Ambassadors will help the campaign to achieve its ambitions, and to maintain the trajectory of its current success.”

Exciting times ahead

The Group are already working on exciting opportunities and events for the months ahead.

Paul Lindley, member of the IMAGINE Senior Ambassadors Group and Founder of Ella’s Kitchen, outlined his vision of a society where business and universities work together to solve some of the challenges we face, collaborating to make the world a better place.  He specifically showed his support by announcing an exciting campaign event, IMAGINE IF, planned for February 2019. This event will identify big ideas which aim to help tackle the greatest challenges we are facing from climate change to poverty and disease, and demonstrate how a change in behaviour, a new intervention or a new way of thinking could improve the world in which we live.

These big ideas will be assessed by a panel of judges, and ten people will be selected to present their idea to an audience of business professionals and entrepreneurs as part of the event. The winner will receive a funding prize of £75,000 donated by five sponsors to develop their big idea through research at the University of Reading.
