Call for bids for funding diversity initiatives

We are delighted to announce the 2017-18 competition for funds to support diversity initiatives across the University.

If you are looking for a funding between £500 and £1000 to support staff time, produce materials for teaching, recruitment or support, or to hold an event of diversity and inclusion relevance, please get in touch.

Applications must be made using the attached form. Please complete the form and email it to by 5 pm on Tuesday 12 December 2017.

Assessments will be based on the following principles:

  • Diversity and Inclusion relevance specifically to School, Function or University
  • Link to School / Function / University targets or KPIs – although we would also encourage initiatives relevant to other protected characteristics e.g. age, disability
  • Potential and plan for longer term impact on wider University

A total amount of £5300 is available for the 2017-18 academic year, and any allocated funds must be used by July 2018.

Previous bids

The fund aims to encourage and support diversity initiatives across the University.

Last year, we supported seven projects. The projects and their lead contacts are listed below:

  • Improving the Gender Balance in UG Real Estate & Planning Programmes (Joe Doak, HBS)
  • Embedding D&I in the curriculum (Eileen Hyder, CQSD)
  • Supporting Digital Mindfulness (Yota Dimitriadi, IoE)
  • Inclusive structures (Melanie Jay, IoE)
  • Employability challenges for students with specific learning disabilities (Adrian Tagg, SBE)
  • Pharmacy D&I away day (Angela Bithell SCFP)
  • University Mental Health Day (Claire Gregor, Counselling and wellbeing)
