Dr Katja Strohfeldt-Venables

We are pleased to announce that Dr Katja Strohfeldt-Venables, Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, has been appointed Teaching and Learning Dean, with effect from 1 July 2017.

Katja will replace Dr David Carter following his appointment as Head of the International Study and Language Institute. Working alongside fellow Teaching and Learning Deans Dr Amanda Callaghan, Professor Clare Furneaux, Professor Roger Gibbard, Dr Orla Kennedy and Dr Elizabeth McCrum, Katja will work closely with Professor Gavin Brooks, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning, in providing strategic leadership for teaching and learning activities across the University.

Katja brings a wealth of experience from a variety of Teaching and Learning roles here at Reading.   She has held a number of key posts in the Department of Pharmacy, such as Admissions Tutor and Director of Teaching and Learning, also covering on occasion as Senior Tutor and Examinations Officer in the Department.

Currently, she is School Director of Teaching and Learning for Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy. She also serves as the Hall Warden for Stenton Hall and is Chair of the University Teaching Fellow Community of Practice.

Professor Gavin Brooks said:

“I am delighted to welcome Katja into the post. It is a great appointment for the team and I am sure she will bring much to the role. I look forward to working with Katja when she joins us in July, and offer her my warmest congratulations on this latest success.”
