Transgender Day of Remembrance: awareness training and other events

Transgender Day of Remembrance 2016 events

In aid of Transgender Day of Remembrance on Sunday 20 November several special events will be taking place across the University.

The international day of remembrance is marked each year on and around 20 November. It is a day on which we celebrate our trans staff and students, but also remember those affected by violence against the trans community in the UK and beyond, particularly over the last year.

Events taking place at the University include:

Trans awareness training with Rosemary Taylor

Friday 18 November, 2.00pm - 4.00pm, Palmer 103, Whiteknights.

A special training session ideal for public-facing members of the University community, such as student representatives, academic teaching staff and customer services operatives. All staff and students welcome.

To book and for enquiries, contact Sinead O'Flynn

Flag-raising ceremony and speeches

Monday 21 November, 1.00pm - 1.45pm, flagpole between Whiteknights House and the Library.

Hosted by Vice-Chancellor Sir David Bell, RUSU LGBT+ Officer Nikki Ray and the LGBT Plus staff network. All staff and students welcome.

Trans experiences across the generations: personal stories and Q&A

Monday 21 November, 7.30 - 9.00pm, RUSU Café Mondial

Gain insight into the triumphs and challenges faced by the trans community and learn about the movement’s progress over the years.  All staff and students welcome.

We look forward to seeing our students and staff joining together in support of the local and international LGBT community.
