Human Resources is responsible for ensuring the economical and effective use of the University's advertising budget and must therefore make careful choices about the content of advertisements and the media. Contact your HR Administrator if you wish to advertise in external media for exact costs. Any additional costs relating to an advert will be charged to the recruiting School/Department. There are also cost free ways of advertising posts. All University posts are placed on the University's jobs site. Additionally, all Grade 6 and above posts are placed at Jobs.ac.uk and the Job Centre Plus.
Care should be taken when choosing where to place your advert. Bear in mind that publications have different deadlines. Lead in times for certain monthly publications can be up to 6 weeks in advance. Full details for each publication can be given from your HR Administrator. Advertisements will appear under the University's logo and must meet the style and layout requirements of the corporate image.
All advertising orders will be placed by Human Resources through the University's appointed advertising agents, following the receipt by HR Operations of a purchase order number from the department/school. Human Resources will, wherever possible, integrate advertisements into composites for the local and certain national media. A standard last paragraph will be added giving details of how the applicant should apply for the role, closing date, reference number etc. A copy of the final advertisement will be sent to the Recruiting Manager with details of when and where it will appear in the press.
