FSA Local Authority Letter (ENF/E/11/022), 30 June 2011

ENFORCEMENT - FVO audit to take place from 15 to 25 November 2011

As we had previously communicated, the Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) will be revisiting the UK between 15-25 November 2011 to carry out an audit of feed controls and follow-up on recommendations made during its previous mission in June 2009. I attach for your information only, a copy of the pre-audit questionnaire which sets out the scope of the audit and the information requested by the FVO from the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The FSA is continuing to work with local authorities and other stakeholders in preparing for the FVO audit, including the drafting of an itinerary.

The FVO have indicated that they will visit England, Scotland and Wales, and wish to meet with 8 local authorities (6 in England) to discuss their official controls on animal feed, including several responsible for controls at points of entry and import controls.

The FVO have also requested to visit a wide range of feed business operators to assess their compliance with feed legislation, concentrating mainly on those businesses required to have in place feed safety management systems in accordance with Regulation (EC) 183/2005 on feed hygiene.

A copy of the FVO Audit Plan is available on this site. See FVO Audit Plan - UK - November 2011
