Future GB MRL amendments
Chlorpropham is no longer an approved active substance in GB and all plant protection product authorisations have been withdrawn.
As harmful effects on human health cannot be excluded it is proposed that the current MRL for potatoes of 10 mg/kg should be lowered. To account for the potential contamination of untreated potatoes when stored in facilities where chlorpropham has been previously used, a temporary MRL (tMRL) of 0.35 mg/kg is proposed.
For all other commodities it is proposed to lower the MRLs to the limit of quantification.
The proposed date of adoption/publication of the new MRLs is 10 October 2023 and the proposed date of entry into force of the new MRLs will be six months after the date of adoption/publication. It is proposed that the continued validity of the tMRL for potatoes will need to be reassessed by the submission of supplementary information to HSE.

To meet the UK’s international trade obligations, the measures have notified to the World Trade Organization.
On completion of this process, an update on the final MRLs and supplementary information requirements agreed, along with the date of entry into force, will be communicated via HSE’s eBulletin service.
