PESTICIDES - HSE Pesticides ebulletin: GB MRL amendments | Future GB MRL amendment

GB maximum residue levels (MRL) amendments (adopted April 2023)

There have been recent amendments to the GB MRL Statutory Register, setting new statutory levels.

In order to meet the requirements of international trade, new MRLs have been set in the GB MRL Statutory Register for the following active/commodity combinations:

The new MRLs came into force on 17 April 2023 as indicated in the GB MRL Statutory Register.

The evaluation report, reasoned opinion and decision document supporting the new MRLs are available on the HSE website.

Future GB MRL amendment (adopted May 2023)

Spinetoram is an approved active substance in GB. HSE identified an acute intake concern for the current MRL for lettuces.

As notified in our ebulletin of 8 February 2023, harmful effects for human health cannot be excluded.

It was therefore proposed to lower the specific MRL for spinetoram/ lettuces from 10 mg/kg to the limit of quantification.

Following completion of the notification process to the World Trade Organization, a new MRL at the limit of quantification for spinetoram/ lettuces has now been adopted. The new MRL was adopted on the 16 May 2023.

In order to allow trading partners and food business operators time to adjust to the new lower MRL the date of entry into force of the new MRL is 16 November 2023. The future MRL can be reviewed on the HSE website in the decision document: MRL reviews. The new MRL will appear in the register from 16 November 2023.
