Delegatres attending our flvourists training course.We are actively involved in providing short courses for industry and education. These are varied and can be tailored to your needs.

Current courses

Our current regular courses are:

  • Ice Cream course – A well-established three or four day course designed for industry personnel needing additional knowledge of the science and technology of ice cream.
  • Flavourists training course – A three week programme run in conjunction with professional organisations and the flavour industry.
  • Summer course for 6th form students – A three day course giving 6th formers an introduction to the science and technology of food.
  • Teachers Day – An opportunity for science teachers to find out how food science can be applied to the school curriculum.

AgriFood Training Partnership

In addition we have established an AgriFood Training Partnership (AFTP). This is a unique partnership that builds on the expertise of leading UK institutions in food and agricultural research working together with the food industry to provide postgraduate-level taught and research training to food industry professionals. The AFTP is led from the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences, and includes the University of Birmingham (School of Chemical Engineering), Rothamsted Research and Leatherhead Food Research.

The AFTP offers regular week long courses which can be made into part-time modular programmes, leading to Masters or Doctorate qualifications.
