Ecommerce & Payment solutions
How can the Ecommerce team help you?
If you are wishing to take payments for goods and services on behalf of the University then we are here to help you. We can provide advise and solutions on whether to sell virtually through our online store or physically either using the Universities EPOS system or handheld or automated Credit card machines. We will also guide you through the neccesary payment compliances we have to follow for taking payment such as PCI-DSS.
What is the online store and how can I use it?
The online store can be found at https://www.store.reading.ac.uk/
The online store allows your department to sell anything from merchandise, lab or school equipment to bookings for a conference or event. The store also allows you to take payments for items that you may wish to not be available to the general public, such as departmental trips.
Using the online store the department will see many benefits, such as having income automatically allocated to your project code, have items sold using the correct VAT status, not chasing students for debt or having to use a BIF to allocate income to the correct project code.
Using the store for collecting income is a way of making your life easier, and reduce the amount of administration you will have to do each year. There is no cost to a department for using the University online store.
If you want more details about the online store then please contact email@example.com where we will be happy to help with your enquiry.
Taking card payments; are you PCI DSS compliant?
PCI-DSS are a set of standards that we as a University have to comply with if we want to take payments by credit or debit card. Any member of staff wishing to take payments via credit or debit card must complete the mandatory online training first before they can take any form of payment or work with a system that takes card payments.
