Guide to planning your event
Events can be used as a strategic tool to enhance the University's reputation and can be used to showcase expertise, to raise money, recognise support and to celebrate achievements and anniversaries. They also provide a platform for engaging with a variety of audiences.
The following information has been written to help you when planning University events, assisting you to make the most of your event and the best use of resources available on campus.
There are no longer any restrictions for campus event priority types or categories, however event organisers should continue to consider whether face-to-face event delivery is necessary. Where an online offering could be successful, this should be pursued in the first instance. Please review recent Staff Portal Article 1 Sept and FAQs for further clarification. You may also like to visit our Virtual Events Best Practice Guide for more information on how to run successful online events.
Please also note, if you are booking an ONSITE event for or on behalf of a non-University individual/organisation on the Whiteknights campus, it is essential that you contact Venue Reading who can provide professional support for all such events on campus:
Telephone: 0118 378 5657
Finally, please note that there is NEW PROCESS for booking external spaces on campus, which must also be done via the Venue Reading team. View our Bookable Outside Space (PDF) guide.
