Event Information
Step back in time and experience the story of the University of Reading like never before.
Whether you're a student, member of staff, alumnus, alumna or member of the public, we would be delighted to welcome you for an evening celebrating 100 years of the University of Reading.
Created as part of our centenary celebrations, Sparks, Parks, Halls and Balls is an immersive theatre production developed in collaboration with South Street Arts. Set on the Whiteknights campus, the production brings to life some of our landmark moments inspired by in-depth interviews with alumni, students, staff, and members of the local community, alongside discoveries from the University archive.
You will journey with the cast through a century of student life, listening to real-life memories along the way.
Rather than presenting history through a traditional exhibition, publication or documentary, the project invites audiences to experience the University's past in a dynamic and immersive way. Through performance, movement, film and creative interpretation, familiar buildings, green spaces and traditions become the backdrop for uncovering the stories that have shaped the institution over nearly a century.
