Event Information

Join us to hear Professor John Marenbon speak on Philosophy and its Past: A Canon or History? He will explore the question whether a genuine history of philosophy — one suitably sceptical about the identity of its subject — may be more valuable, not only as history, but also for philosophers.

John Marenbon is Senior Research Fellow at Trinity College, Cambridge, Visiting Professor at the Università della Svizzera Italiana and Honorary Professor of Medieval Philosophy Emeritus in the University of Cambridge. He is a Fellow of the British Academy. His recent work includes The Oxford Handbook of Medieval Philosophy (editor); Pagans and Philosophers: the problem of paganism from Augustine to Leibniz; How Medieval Thinkers Analysed Cultural Differences (forthcoming); Facts and States of Affairs (forthcoming).

Admission is free but booking is essential.
