Parking spaces are limited, please consider travelling by public transport, on foot, or by bicycle.

Whiteknights Campus

Car Park 1A - Visitors Pay & Display

You must display a valid ticket available from the ticket machines in the car park. The machines accept credit/debit cards or you can use the RingGo app for payment. Per hour or all day parking options are available.


Parking off site

If you decide to travel to the University and park off site, please ensure that you park legally and considerately and are aware of any parking restrictions.

  • don't park on junctions
  • don't block driveways or dropped kerbs
  • don't park in areas where there's limited space available for residents

If you are coming by car to visit a student at halls or a staff member on campus, you must ensure that your parking is prearranged.


Arranging parking for staff visitors

Visitors - please contact the member of staff or department you are visiting and ask them to arrange a visitor's parking permit.

Staff - please complete the online visitor parking form. Note this should be done at least 24 hours in advance of the required time.


Arranging parking for student visitors at halls

Students living in halls can purchase parking permits for their visitors. All visitors parking in Halls car parks between 8.30am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, must display a valid permit. Permits can be purchased online in advance via the link below. Please allow 24 hours for processing.

Only those who are visiting a University of Reading student staying in halls can purchase the Halls visitor permits.

Parking regulations

Parking at the University is subject to the Parking Regulations. Anyone infringing the regulations is likely to incur a parking charge notice.

Keeping your vehicle secure

Vehicle crime rates on campus are comparable to the rest of the Thames Valley area. You can reduce the risk of your vehicle being broken into by following these simple steps:

  • Always lock your vehicle.
  • Never leave any items on display.
  • Remove all valuable items from your vehicle.
  • Remove the fascia from any radio/stereo equipment.
  • Remove all Sat Nav Equipment, including the holder.
  • Do not leave your vehicle on campus overnight.
  • Always use any security devices fitted to your car.
FAQs

Our school receives a high number of visitors - what is the best way to arrange parking for them?

Schools and Functions are entitled to receive 50 permits per semester free of charge. If you require more than the allocated amount, you can request additional permits at a cost from campusparking@reading.ac.uk. You will be asked to provide a valid University project code to pay for the additional permits.

How do I book my visitor into Car Park 5?

To book your visitor into Car Park 5 please submit an online booking form:

This is only for use by staff, who have a visitor arriving for a meeting in Whiteknights House.

Will visitor permits be needed for Open Days?

There is limited parking available on Whiteknights campus that will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Members of our security team will direct you to a parking space once you arrive. Permits will not be required.

Is there parking available at the University for Graduation?

We do have limited parking for the Graduation ceremony attendees and their guests. Graduands and their guests will be able to park on the Whiteknights campus and take the free shuttle bus to London Road campus. Permits will not be required.

How do I apply for a permit if I'm a visiting academic?

If you are working for the University and not on the University payroll you may apply for an Associate parking permit. Please visit our main parking page, select Associate parking and complete the online application form.

Do I need a permit if I am volunteering at the University?

If you are a volunteer, please contact the leader of your volunteer group, who should be a member of the University and who can make the necessary arrangements.
