You will need to complete a minimum of 10 hours volunteering. These hours can be completed worldwide and for the purpose of the RED Award, volunteering can be defined as working for the benefit of others and developing personal skills, without monetary gain.
If you wish, you could choose to do a volunteering activity for all, or part, of the core activity element of the award. This means that you can do up to 45 hours of volunteering, with the remaining hours balanced out by core activity (e.g. if you do the minimum of 10 hours of volunteering, plus an additional 10 - you will still need to do 25 hours of core activity).
There are lots of opportunities to choose from, both internally and externally, and any volunteering will count! Here are some ideas on where to get you started:
Volunteer with RUSU:
- RUSU Volunteering
- Course Representatives
- JCR Representatives
- Committee Member of a Sports Club or Society
Volunteer in the local community with Reading Voluntary Action.
