Reading University Students' Union represents all students and supports campaigns for change.

Academic Reps

Academic Reps (Course Reps and School Reps) are elected students who represent you and your views on academic issues. They work alongside the RUSU Education Officer to ensure the student voice is being heard by the University and positive changes are being made throughout every department.

Student representation in academic schools

Every school operates a Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) which works to:

  • Provide a formal channel for students to meet with staff in order to discuss the operation of their degree programme(s)
  • Review issues relating to teaching and learning, including assessment and feedback, module evaluation, curriculum development and student support receive and review copies of External Examiners’ reports
  • Consider other matters affecting students, including health and safety and resources such as equipment and library provision.

RUSU Course Reps sit on SSLCs to represent you and your views on academic issues relating to your programme. In addition, RUSU School Reps (who lead a team of Course Reps) sit on the School Board for Teaching & Learning (SBTL) and pass on your feedback to your School.
